Discover Ramales de la Victoria

Ramales de la Victoria is the adventure tourism capital of eastern Cantabria. Set in the middle Asón Valley between limestone mountains and a spectacular karst landscape, it boasts an unusual concentration of adventure activities: caving in internationally renowned caves (Cuevamur, Cueva del Escalón, Cueva El Molino), via ferrata with views of the Cantabrian peaks, sport climbing on limestone rock, abseiling in vertical cavities and canyoning through underground rivers. The municipality is also home to the Cueva de Covalanas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Palaeolithic cave paintings. The Cueva de Pozalagua, with its extraordinary field of eccentric stalactites, is just a few kilometres away. Ramales takes its name from the 1839 battle during the First Carlist War, and preserves a town centre with traditional Cantabrian architecture, a parish church and a medieval bridge over the Asón River.
