Cueva Honda is located in Ampuero, in eastern Cantabria, very close to the Santuario de la Bien Aparecida and at the gateway to the Asón Valley, one of the most important karst areas in Europe. It is a vertical cavity, with pits and ledges that are descended and climbed using ropes, perfect for starting vertical caving safely and with guidance.
During the activity, you will learn how to move through the underground world: descending pits, climbing, and moving through galleries, always accompanied by a guide who teaches you basic techniques and ensures your safety. It is an ideal first contact with ropes and vertical progression, in an atmosphere of adventure and discovery.
It is designed for people with normal physical condition and a desire to try something different, both for those who have never done caving and for families looking for adventure. It is not recommended for those who suffer from claustrophobia or mobility problems.
The surroundings of Ampuero and the Asón Valley, with thousands of cavities and the source of the Asón River, is a leading destination for caving and active tourism in northern Spain.
