Description

The Asón Waterfall is the source of the river that gives the valley its name. It plunges 50 metres between vertical limestone walls in the Collados del Asón Natural Park, within the municipality of Soba. It is most striking after rain or snowmelt, when the volume multiplies the fall's power. A paved viewpoint a few minutes from the car park offers a full-height view of the cascade, and a short hike leads to the base. It is one of the most photographed spots in eastern Cantabria and a natural starting point for exploring the valley.

Wear hiking shoes if descending to the base — the trail is short but steep. Best photo light is mid-morning when the sun reaches the canyon. Summer flow is low; the show peaks in spring and after autumn storms. Free parking by the viewpoint.
