Description

The Soba zipline is a new active-tourism installation over the Gándara river, in the heart of the Soba valley, within the Alto Asón (Cantabria). It is a 421-metre parallel double-cable zipline with 32 metres of drop, letting two people fly at once over the Gándara gorge more than 100 metres above the river. It is set to be one of the most spectacular ziplines in Cantabria.

The line crosses the gorge from a viewpoint, with views of the limestone walls, the woods and the waters of the Gándara, one of the most remarkable rivers on the Cantabrian coast for its karst spring. The installation is part of the Alto Asón Tourism Sustainability Plan, an effort to diversify the area's offer beyond the summer.

It is not operational yet. Opening is scheduled for 2026, once the testing phase is complete and management has been awarded. On this page we will publish booking, timetable and price information as soon as the zipline opens; the estimated price will be around €12-15 per person.

The Soba valley and the Alto Asón are a nature and adventure destination: the Gándara spring, the Asón waterfall (the 'horse's tail'), the Asón canyons and an underground with more than 4,500 catalogued caves (systems such as Mortillano or Cullavera) make the area a paradise for hiking, caving and active tourism.

About the Area

The Soba valley lies in the Alto Asón, in south-eastern Cantabria, a region of limestone mountains, forests and karst-fed rivers. Besides the future zipline, the area offers the Gándara spring, the Asón waterfall, the La Sía pass viewpoints and one of the largest concentrations of caves in Europe. Villages such as Veguilla, La Gándara or Regules keep their traditional architecture and good valley cuisine.
