The via ferrata is a climbing route secured with anchors, iron steps (staples), and handrails installed into the rock. It allows climbing vertical walls without previous experience, following a marked route and using specific safety equipment.
Before starting, the guide explains the use of the harness and energy absorbers. During the route, participants advance clipped to the safety cable, overcoming rock steps, handrails, and sections of real vertical exposure. The sensation of climbing at height with total safety is unique.
In the Ramales de la Victoria area, two routes can be done depending on the level: El Cáliz, ideal for beginners, and El Risco, somewhat longer and more demanding.
Minimum age 10 years for beginner routes. Requires absence of severe vertigo and good basic physical condition. No previous experience in climbing or via ferratas is required. The guide adapts the pace and difficulty to the group.
The via ferratas in the program are located in protected natural environments in northern Spain: limestone walls, gorges, and massifs with spectacular views.
