Holm oaks, kids and farmyard animals
Why it stands out
- 01
One of the few accessible meadows in Spain.
The dehesa is a unique agrosilvopastoral ecosystem in western Iberia. Few estates open it to family tourism; southern Salamanca is the area with the most school farm offerings in this environment.
- 02
Plan designed for young children
The pace, distances and workshops are designed for ages 2 to 12. Parents can relax while the children learn and play on the estate, without having to drive around.
- 03
Near the city of Salamanca
15-20 km from the historic center of Salamanca, a World Heritage Site. The combination of farm + city of golden stone is perfect for a first getaway with children.
- 04
Dehesa cuisine: lamb, cheese and cured meats.
The accommodations cook with produce from the farm or the surrounding area: churro lamb of native breed, artisan cheeses, cured meats from Iberian pig from Guijuelo. A gastronomic plan is also available for adults.

How to get there
Best time: March to June (the dehesa at its greenest) and September-October (a second spring). Summer is drier and warmer but still works. Winter: cold and mud, but the animals and workshops carry on.
Getting there: Morille is 15-20 km south of Salamanca on the SA-300. Salamanca city is 1h45 by AVE high-speed train from Madrid (Salamanca-Vialia station). A car is recommended to reach the estate.
What to bring: outdoor clothes, wellies or shoes that can get muddy, cap and sunscreen. Bring your own bottle/dummy; farm schools usually offer cot and high chair on request.

Frequently asked questions
From what age can kids take part?
From babies in the lodging. Workshops typically start at 3-4 years old (vegetable garden, animals) and run up to 12. For smaller children there are always animal pens and observation walks.
How many workshops in a weekend?
Usually 2-3: one morning, one afternoon, plus animals (milking, feeding) several times a day. The exact mix depends on the farm.
What's the accommodation like?
A country house on the estate or integrated apartments, usually for 4-8 people. Basic equipment (cot and high chair on request), not hotel-style.
Are meals included?
Usually half-board (breakfast and dinner) or full board. Food is home-cooked with produce from the dehesa: churra lamb, cheese, charcuterie.
Does it run in winter?
Yes. The dehesa changes colour (more yellow pasture), there's cold and mud, but workshops and animals continue. Some farms close 2-3 weeks in January for maintenance.
