Why it stands out
- 01
The Duratón Canyon
A dizzying meander carved into the rock, crowned by the hermitage of San Frutos and inhabited by one of the largest colonies of golden eagles in Europe.
- 02
Sleep under the stars, for real.
Dark skies area with Starlight certified accommodations: transparent bubbles with a telescope where the last image of the day is the entire sky.
- 03
Two stone medieval villages
Sepúlveda and Pedraza, among the best-preserved historical sites in Spain, with walls, Romanesque architecture and roast lamb restaurants.
- 04
One hour from Madrid
Close enough for a midweek or weekend getaway, rural enough to avoid running into anyone.

Frequently asked questions
Why isn't it the city of Segovia?
Because this is rural Segovia: the Duratón canyon, the northern medieval villages and the starry skies. The city (aqueduct, alcázar) is half an hour away if you want to add it, but the plan lives in the countryside.
How many nights?
One night in a bubble + a day of canyon and villages already makes the escape. With two, you add Pedraza and plenty of time.
Can you kayak year-round?
No. The gorge is a nature reserve with stretches closed during the vulture breeding season (approx. January-July). Book with authorised operators; we'll advise by date.
Is it only for couples?
It's designed for two — bubble hotels are usually adults-only — but the area also works for a quiet escape with friends.
Is there much light at night?
No, and that's the point: this is dark-sky country, with Starlight-certified lodgings and a telescope to see planets and satellites.
