Hoofbeats between vines and limestone walls
Why it stands out
- 01
Horse, vineyard and canyon in a single escape
Few places let you ride through native Bobal vineyards in the morning and walk the Turia limestone canyon in the afternoon, all within 30 minutes by car.
- 02
Country houses and cortijos with their own stables
Accommodation is usually right by the stables, so you don't have to move to start the route: five minutes from breakfast to stirrup.
- 03
Utiel-Requena Designation of Origin
Over 33,000 hectares of vineyard and around 90 recognised wineries. Bobal is Spain's second most planted red grape, and this is its homeland.
- 04
Turia canyon and Chulilla footbridges
The Chulilla hanging walkways cross the Turia canyon about 15 metres above the water. It's one of the most photographed trails in inland Valencia.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need previous riding experience?
No. Routes are designed for beginners: walk and gentle trot, with a guide. If you've never ridden, say so on arrival and they'll start you in the round pen.
Can children join?
Yes, from 6 years old on a lead-rein with a guide. Younger kids can do short pony rides at some centres.
What's the best season?
Spring (March-May) for almond blossom and budding vines, and autumn (September-November) for the harvest and colours. Summer is very hot: rides go out at first light.
Can I combine it with a wine tasting?
Yes, several Utiel-Requena DO wineries offer tasting + lunch in 1-2 h. You can pair it with the horseback ride on the same day.
How do I get there without a car?
Cercanías C-3 train from Valencia to Chulilla. For Requena, there's a direct bus from Valencia-Sant Isidre station. Transfer from the station to the riding centre depends on the provider; ask when you book.
