The experience
The hike begins at the parking area near the Ermita de San Bartolomé, where the guide provides an overview of the area’s history and geology. You walk along natural trails crossing wooden footbridges spanning the river, feeling the rough texture underfoot. You visit the 13th-century Romanesque hermitage, featuring Templar symbolism, explore the Cueva Grande, and ascend to the El Balconcillo viewpoint for panoramic views of the canyon as the wind carries the scent of thyme. The route returns via the same trail.
For whom
This hike is suitable for people with moderate physical fitness, families with children over 8 years old, and those interested in historical heritage and nature. It is not recommended for individuals with limited mobility or vertigo, due to some inclines and wooden footbridges.
