About Wildlife Watching

Wildlife watching allows you to spot animals in their natural habitat with the help of expert naturalist guides who know the best locations, timings, and behaviours of each species. Spain boasts exceptional biodiversity in Europe, home to iconic species such as the Iberian lynx, brown bear, Iberian wolf, griffon vulture, and black vulture. Experiences range from waiting in hides (photographic hides) to observe deer during their rutting season in autumn, to tracking wolf routes in the Sierra de la Culebra (Zamora), evening walks through Doñana to see red deer and flamingos, or excursions in the Pyrenees to spot rock partridges and marmots. The most notable destinations for wildlife watching include Monfragüe (griffon vultures, black stork), Cabañeros (deer rut), Sierra de Andújar (Iberian lynx), Somiedo (brown bear), Sierra de la Culebra (wolf), the Pyrenees (griffon vulture, capercaillie), and the Ebro Delta (flamingos, raptors). Outings typically take place at dawn or dusk, when animals are most active. Guides provide binoculars, telescopes, and in-depth knowledge of local wildlife. It’s a peaceful, educational, and deeply immersive experience connected with nature.
