En el Sistema Central hay lugares increíbles, pero ninguno como el espectacular Hayedo de Montejo. No vamos a hacer el recorrido clásico, sino que vamos a hacer otra ruta, para que puedas apreciar el maravilloso hayedo desde lo alto. Durante el otoño, esta ruta disfruta de su máximo esplendor, ya que disfrutarás de una combinación de colores, única. Todo el recorrido lo harás en compañía de un profesional que irá interpretando el paisaje que veremos. Te hablará de la formación de este lugar natural y te contará historias sobre pueblos de la zona, algunos ya abandonados. El Hayedo de Montejo se compone de 250 hectáreas, en pleno Sistema Central. Quedaremos a las 8:00 de la mañana en Nuevos Ministerios (o Plaza Castilla, si te viene mejor). La ruta se inicia en El Cardoso de la Sierra y bordeamos el Jarama por su margen izquierdo. Veremos algunas de las hayas más importantes. Llegaremos al nacimiento del Jarama y ascenderemos hasta los 1771 metros, donde lograremos unas vistas únicas. Retornaremos por la derecha del Jarama. El desnivel es de 620 metros, y la distancia de 14 kilómetros. A la vuelta, podemos parar en Montejo de la Sierra para recorrer sus calles y visitar el centro de interpretación.
