Guided hiking in Urkiola Natural Park Urkiola Natural Park, located in the Duranguesado area between Bizkaia and Álava, is one of the most emblematic natural spaces in the Basque Country. The Irugurutxeta route winds through beech and oak forests of great ecological value beneath the imposing silhouette of the Anboto massif (1,331 m). The name literally means three crosses, referring to the traditional waymarkers that dotted the path.

The route A circular route of low-medium difficulty, between 8 and 12 km depending on variants, with moderate elevation gain. The guide adapts the itinerary to the group: a gentler version through the forest and valleys, or a version with more ascent and panoramic views over the Duranguesado valley. Urkiola Natural Park is listed as a Site of Community Importance and Special Protection Area for Birds.
