Description

Guided rock climbing in the Basque Country The Basque Country concentrates some of the best rock climbing crags in northern Spain: limestone and sandstone walls with routes for all levels and a deeply rooted climbing tradition in local culture. This guided session takes you to one of five reference areas — Atxarte in the Urkiola Natural Park (Bizkaia), Araoz in Gipuzkoa, Untzillaitz Sur in Mañaria (Bizkaia), Eguino in Álava or Oro in Álava — with all necessary equipment included.

What is included and how it works A 3-hour session with a UIMLA Level 2 Climbing TD guide. The guide adapts the difficulty of the routes to each participant's level, from a first encounter with the rock face to progressing on multi-pitch routes. Harness, helmet, carabiners, ropes, grigri and — if needed — rock shoes included. No prior experience required: the guide explains movement technique, belaying and falling from the start.

Five crags, the same quality The crag is assigned based on availability and conditions on the day. Each school has its own character: Atxarte is the most iconic in the Basque Country, with historic routes on limestone. Araoz, in Gipuzkoa, is known for its peaceful atmosphere and slabs. Untzillaitz Sur offers spectacular views over the Mañaria valley. Eguino and Oro, in Álava, are perfect for beginners with fewer crowds.
