Context
The horseback excursion to Cala Mitjana takes place along the southern coast of Menorca, following rural trails and sections of the historic Camí de Cavalls—a 185-kilometer path that circles the island. The route passes through dense Mediterranean pine forests, where the scent of resin and thyme fills the air, before arriving at Cala Mitjana: a secluded cove with soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, largely untouched by tourism.
The Experience
After a brief safety briefing and fitting with a certified helmet, participants begin the guided ride led by a qualified instructor who adjusts the pace to match each rider’s ability. The approximately 90-minute journey includes walking along paths lined with traditional dry-stone walls (paret seca), a pause at a scenic overlook with panoramic sea views, and the rare opportunity to ride barefoot on the soft sand of Cala Mitjana during low season—feeling the sea breeze and hearing the rhythmic sound of horse hooves on sand.
For Whom
This activity is ideal for beginners, families with children aged 9 and older, and nature lovers seeking a peaceful, safe, and scenic ride. It is not suitable for individuals with limited mobility, severe allergies, or experienced riders seeking advanced trail challenges.
