Pedalling where the Pyrenees still echo in Aranese
Why it stands out
- 01
Logistics actually sorted
GPX preloaded, lodging booked, luggage transfer between stages and 24/7 phone backup. Arrive, drop the bag, find it at the next lodging the next day.
- 02
Val d'Aran, the Atlantic Pyrenees
The only Pyrenean valley facing north. Green meadows, full rivers, Atlantic microclimate and Aranese as official language. The Pyrenees you don't expect: more alpine, less Mediterranean.
- 03
Iconic European cycling passes
Bonaigua (2,072 m), Port del Cantó (1,721 m), Vielha tunnel (5.2 km). Wide roads, little traffic outside August, and the feeling of riding the shoulders where Tour and Vuelta history was made.
- 04
For cyclists with a base, no filters
We don't sell this as a family route. These are 60-90 km/day tours with serious climbing. In return, route curation and lodging match the level of someone who's been riding for years.
Who it fits
You fit if you ride several days a year, you're comfortable with a GPX, and you enjoy long days on the bike: 60-90 km and 1,000-1,800 m of climbing are the norm. Solo, with a partner, or with a couple of mates — the logistics let everyone keep their own pace.
Not your place if you want a guide riding next to you all day (this is self-guided, with phone backup), if you're travelling with kids (better look at our family cycling getaways), or if your idea is urban cycling with long café stops.

How to get there
Best season: June to October. May is possible if the snowmelt allows (Bonaigua may hold snow into early June). November to May the high passes are usually closed or risky.
Getting there: Vielha is ~3 h by car from Barcelona (N-230 + Vielha tunnel), 4 h from Zaragoza, 6 h from Madrid. Reference airports: Toulouse (~2 h crossing the French border) and Barcelona. Bus service from Barcelona and Lleida (Alsa).
Own bike or rental: packages include a bike (full-suspension MTB or gravel) if you need one. If you bring yours, bike racks are available on transfers.
Recommended kit: helmet (mandatory), lights for long stages, layers (2,000 m is cool even in August), gloves, GPS computer or phone with GPS and mount. Summer: sunscreen and at least 2 bottles.
Recommendations
If you've never done a multi-day cycling tour, start with a 3-night option before jumping to a 5-7-night one. Central stages tend to be the toughest; save legs for day 2 or 3.
To see Val d'Aran at its most alive, try to coincide with the summer solstice festival (Es Halhes) in late June: UNESCO-listed bonfires. In September, the meadows lose the August crowds and forests start to turn.
Book early: rural lodging in the area has limited capacity and July-August fills weeks in advance.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own bike or do you provide one?
Your call. Each package lets you choose: bike included (full-suspension MTB or gravel depending on the route) or bring yours with a discount on the price.
Self-guided means I ride alone?
You ride at your own pace, yes, but with the GPX preloaded, a previous briefing and 24/7 phone support during the tour. Lodging and luggage transfer are booked and waiting at every stage end.
What if I can't finish a stage?
You call support and they pick you and the bike up. Covered in all packages at no extra cost, up to 1 pickup per person per tour.
Are there pure road routes or all MTB?
Both. Road hubs focus on Bonaigua, Cantó and Tour climbs. MTB hubs explore Alt Pirineu trails, greenways and singletrack.
Can I go with kids?
These tours are for adults with prior experience. For families with little ones we have other proposals in our family cycling hubs with shorter, flatter stages.
How much climbing per stage?
Between 800 and 1,800 m positive per day depending on the route. Tours are staged: easier opening days to find rhythm, central days with the big climbs.
