About Diving and Scuba Diving

Diving and scuba diving allow you to explore a completely different world beneath the ocean's surface. Spain, with over 8,000 km of coastline, offers some of the finest diving locations in the Mediterranean and Atlantic: crystal-clear waters, seagrass meadows of posidonia, underwater caves, historic shipwrecks, and extraordinary marine biodiversity. Dive baptism is the most popular way to begin: a guided 20–40 minute dive in shallow waters, no certification or prior experience required. An instructor accompanies you throughout as you discover the sensation of breathing underwater and observing marine life up close. Suitable for those over 10 years old. For certified divers, Spain offers hundreds of dive sites with varied conditions. The Medas Islands (Costa Brava), Columbretes Islands (Castellón), Cabo de Palos (Murcia), La Herradura (Granada), Lanzarote, and El Hierro are among the most highly rated destinations in the scuba diving community. Each area has its own appeal: giant groupers, nudibranchs, barracudas, lava tunnels, and shipwreck remains. Diving centres offer PADI and SSI certification courses from Open Water level up to advanced specialisations (night, deep, nitrox, underwater photography). They also organise daily dive trips with full equipment, boat transfer, and a qualified scuba guide. Scuba diving can be enjoyed nearly year-round in Spain thanks to water temperatures: between 14°C in winter (with dry or semi-dry suits) and 26°C in summer. Visibility ranges from 5 to 30 metres depending on the location and time of year.
