About Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding involves riding on a board while standing on the water, pulled by a boat or a cable system (cable ski). It's one of the most thrilling water sports: combining elements of surfing, snowboarding, and water skiing with the ability to perform jumps, spins, and tricks. There are two main disciplines. Wakeboarding with a boat takes place in reservoirs, lakes, and sheltered bays, using a boat to pull you at a controlled speed. Cable ski or cable wakeboarding uses an aerial cable system that runs along a closed circuit over an artificial lake, eliminating the need for a boat. Wakeboarding schools offer beginner lessons where you'll learn how to get up on the board and maintain balance (most people succeed in their first session), intermediate levels (jumping the boat's wake, first rotations), and free sessions for experienced riders. Spain has excellent wakeboarding spots: cable parks in Madrid (Sesena), Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga, and Seville; and boat-based areas in inland reservoirs and sheltered bays. The sport is suitable from age 10–12 and is typically available from May to October in most locations.
