Who this fits

With friends Adventure Ecotourism Gastronomy
Fits you if you fancy easy cycle-touring (flat greenway, no climbs), care about olive oil culture, and enjoy 20-30 km stages with long stops to eat and visit villages. Does NOT fit if you want technical MTB, demanding effort, or long stages: this is for slow pedalling and slow eating. Also doesn't fit in peak summer (July-August): 38-40°C in the olive grove makes it brutal.

Frequently asked

Got a question not listed here? Just ask.

Are there steep climbs?
No. The Vía Verde del Aceite is virtually flat (gradients <2%) because it follows the old railway track. Ideal for beginners and families.
Do I need cycle-touring experience?
No. If you ride regularly and can do 20-30 km without exhaustion, the route is manageable. Stages are short with frequent stops.
Can it be done in peak summer?
Not recommended. Between July and August, temperatures exceed 38°C in the olive grove with no shade. Best in April-June or September-October.
What kind of bike is used?
Hybrid or gravel with panniers, included. The surface is compacted gravel, not suitable for pure road bikes but accessible for almost any other bike.
Are there rest days?
Stages are short (20-30 km) and leave afternoons free to visit villages. No full rest days, but plenty of time to stop.
