Description

This coastal trail connects two of the most distinctive points on the Cantabrian coast between Bareyo and Arnuero. The starting point is the Faro de Ajo, world-famous for the colourful artistic intervention by muralist Okuda San Miguel. From there, the path follows the cliff edge southward, with continuous views of the Cantabrian Sea.

The route follows dirt tracks and open coastal terrain, with some stretches of beach. It passes alongside Playa de Cuberris — a local surf spot — and continues to Playa de Isla, a quiet cove sheltered by the Ría de Ajo. The trail runs mostly within the Santoña, Victoria and Joyel Marshes Natural Park, ensuring a well-preserved landscape free from construction.

Although the route can be completed without a guide following signage, guided visits allow you to learn about the history of the lighthouse, local fauna and the characteristics of the Natural Park. The difficulty is low, suitable for families with children over 8 and those with a basic level of fitness.
