Description

The Las Caldas de Besaya Spa is the oldest spa in Cantabria, founded in 1826 although its thermal waters were already known to the Romans. Located in the municipality of Los Corrales de Buelna, on the banks of the River Besaya, it occupies a 15-hectare park of lush vegetation between two valleys.

Seven mineral-medicinal springs emerge at a constant temperature of 37°C. The chloride-bicarbonate, sodium and nitrogen-rich waters are particularly indicated for circulatory, respiratory, rheumatic, nervous system and dermatological conditions. The spa offers thermal circuits, therapeutic treatments and wellness programmes.

The main building, in 19th-century style, preserves spacious halls and corridors evoking the golden age of Spanish thermalism. The hotel has 70 rooms and a restaurant. The surroundings, beside the River Besaya and at the gateway to the Saja-Besaya Nature Reserve, allow guests to combine thermalism with hiking and nature.

The spa participates in the IMSERSO Thermalism programme and offers multi-day stays with treatment included. It is a benchmark for wellness tourism in northern Spain.
