Description

El Rayo Verde is a viewpoint-bar on a clifftop in the Oyambre Natural Park, in the Gerra district of San Vicente de la Barquera. The terrace looks directly over the Cantabrian Sea with panoramic views of the San Vicente estuary, Oyambre and Meron beaches, and the Picos de Europa in the background.

At sunset, the sun descends over the sea in front of the terrace and, in optimal conditions, produces the green flash optical phenomenon: an emerald gleam in the last instant before the solar disc disappears below the horizon. It is one of the few spots on the Cantabrian coast where this phenomenon can be regularly observed.

The space combines a food truck, Basque grill, cocktail bar and live music on natural grassland at the cliff edge. It has been awarded a Solete by the Repsol Guide. Open seasonally (spring-autumn).
