The San Vicente de la Barquera estuary is an inlet that breathes with the sea: it rises and falls with the tide, and at low tide, the water recedes, revealing mudflats and channels. Canoeing through it is the best way to see it from within, at water level, circling the bay and its beaches with the Maza bridge on one side and, on clear days, the snowy Picos de Europa closing the horizon.

The route lasts about two hours and is guided. No previous experience is required: the estuary waters are calm, without waves, and paddling instructions are given before setting off.
