Its fish auction house is the main one in Andalusia and one of the largest fishing ports in Spain, with nearly 200 vessels and more than 10,000 tons of fish and shellfish auctioned annually. This visit enters that world through the front door: the afternoon public auction at the Lonja Norte—the only one adapted to receive visitors—where freshly unloaded fish (white shrimp, octopus, scampi, trawl and net species) changes hands at a pace that must be seen to be believed.

Around the auction house, the port: the moored fleet, the bustle of unloading, and in the background, the Paraje Natural de las Marismas de Isla Cristina y Ayamonte, one of the most important wetlands on the Huelva coastline. From there, the tour can continue towards the city to read its history in the old canning and salting factories, the 19th-century bourgeois district, and the Plaza de las Flores, with the Casa de Don Justo, a work by the architect Aníbal González.
