Context This guided tour explores the heart of Fuerteventura, blending historical heritage, volcanic landscapes, and authentic local cuisine. Beginning in Betancuria—the island’s first settlement, founded in 1404—and continuing through the Ajuy Caves, where limestone formations were shaped by the Atlantic Ocean, the route offers a complete journey through the island’s western interior and coast. The tour lasts approximately 6–7 hours, with minivan transport and gentle walks between key sites. It’s ideal for travelers seeking cultural depth, natural beauty, and authentic culinary experiences.

The Experience The day begins with pickup from your accommodation and transfer to Betancuria, where you stroll through its traditional stone streets, breathing in the wild thyme scented breeze. Next, visit the Museum of Majorero Cheese to taste this regional specialty, noting its unique texture and rich flavor. A visit to an aloe vera farm demonstrates cultivation methods and traditional uses of this medicinal plant. The journey continues through the volcanic Ajuy Caves, where the constant crash of ocean waves echoes through the rock. The tour concludes with panoramic views from La Entallada Lighthouse and the Risco de las Peñas viewpoint, where the cool Atlantic wind brushes your face.

For Whom Perfect for families with children from 1 year old, history and culture enthusiasts, and food lovers who enjoy artisanal cuisine. The difficulty level is low, with vehicle transfers and short walks, making it accessible for most travelers. Not recommended for those with limited mobility or those seeking high-intensity outdoor activities.

Local Context Fuerteventura preserves its agricultural and livestock traditions, reflected in majorero cheese and aloe vera farming. Betancuria, the former capital, maintains its architectural and cultural heritage, while volcanic formations and caves stand as living witnesses to the island’s geological origins and deep connection with the Atlantic Ocean.
