Discover Mombeltrán

Mombeltrán is the head town of the Cinco Villas de Gredos, a municipality on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Gredos (Ávila) dominated by the Castle of the Dukes of Alburquerque, a 15th-century fortress crowning the town from its hill. The old town preserves the Gothic church of San Juan Bautista, the arcaded square and streets with stone and timber mountain architecture. Mombeltrán is the village with the most services in the Cinco Villas: hotels, restaurants, shops and active tourism companies. The area is a benchmark for adventure activities: canyoning in the Gredos gorges, climbing, via ferrata, horseback riding, hiking and MTB. The Cuevas del Águila are 8 km away and Puerto del Pico (with its Roman road) 5 km. 1h 30min from Madrid. Mombeltrán combines heritage (castle, church), mountain gastronomy (kid goat, Barco beans) and Gredos nature.
