What's included

This is what the bundle covers. If you want to tweak something, we'll sort it in the proposal.

Lodging

  • One night, full board in Sierra Nevada
Mountain accommodation in the Sierra Nevada area (Pradollano / Güéjar Sierra) with full board the night before the summit. Carb-loaded dinner, sleep at mid-altitude to start acclimatising and a hearty breakfast before heading up to Hoya de la Mora.

Activities

  • Guided summit of Pico Veleta (3,396 m)
Certified mountain guide for the full trek: start at Hoya de la Mora (2,500 m), pass Refugio de la Carihuela (3,180 m), final ridge to the summit with views of Mulhacén, the Alpujarras and, on clear days, the Mediterranean and the Moroccan Rif.

Meals

  • Carb-loaded dinner and breakfast
Dinner the night before is designed to fuel the climb (slow carbs, enough protein, nothing heavy) and a substantial breakfast before heading above 3,000 m. Full board is included with the lodging.

Extras

  • Classic itinerary Hoya de la Mora — Carihuela — Veleta
Verified route via the standard Veleta ridge. About 900 m of positive elevation, 14-16 km round-trip. Key checkpoint: Refugio de la Carihuela (3,180 m), a good spot to pace yourself and shelter from the wind.
  • Day 2 — Veleta summit and descent
Early start to catch the rock still cold, final ridge to 3,396 m, summit photo with Mulhacén in front and a controlled descent. Indicative timings: 4-5 h up, 3 h down. Turnaround point decided by the guide based on the weather forecast.
  • Winter technical gear (crampons, ice axe, helmet)
If your dates land on a hard-snow window (typically November-May), the guide supplies crampons, ice axe and helmet. In summer (July-October) the summit is usually snow-free and only standard mountain hiking gear is needed.

Included

  • · One-night accommodation in Sierra Nevada with full board (dinner + breakfast + trail lunch)
  • · Certified UIMLA/AEGM mountain guide for both days
  • · Group technical gear if the date requires winter kit (crampons, ice axe, helmet)
  • · Mountain activity insurance

Not included

  • · Travel to the meeting point in Sierra Nevada
  • · Personal gear: stiff mountain boots, backpack, layers, hat, gloves, glacier glasses, headlamp
  • · Drinks beyond the full-board service
  • · Optional cancellation insurance

Who this fits

With friends Adventure Ecotourism
Fits people in solid hiking shape who already manage full mid-mountain days (8-10 h moving) and want their first serious 3,000-er with a guide. It is not technical mountaineering in summer, but it is a long day above 3,000 m: if walking 6 h with a backpack feels hard, train first. In winter (November-May) the bar rises: hard snow, wind and confident use of crampons and ice axe (with on-route guide instruction, doable for beginners). Not a plan for casual walkers or for anyone who has had to turn back from altitude sickness before.

Frequently asked

Got a question not listed here? Just ask.

Is there a real risk of altitude sickness?
Low but real. Sleeping at 2,000 m the night before cuts the risk significantly. If you feel a strong headache, nausea or lightheadedness above 3,000 m, you tell the guide and turn back — the summit is not worth getting worse.
When is the best season for a snow-free summit?
July to October the summit is usually clear. June can still hold snow patches in north-facing zones; November typically sees the first big snowfall.
What if my date hits winter conditions?
The guide provides crampons, ice axe and helmet and teaches you on the go. If the forecast advises against going up, the trip reschedules or shifts to a low-altitude alternative — safety comes first.
Do I need to have climbed a 3,000-er before?
No, but you should have several full mid-mountain days in your legs. Climbing 800-900 m in a day with a pack must feel doable, not punishing.
Is the summit guaranteed?
No. The guide sets a turnaround based on weather, group condition and timing. If we turn back, we turn back — and try another day.
