Description

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands in Santander's historic centre above a 13th-century Gothic crypt, the city's oldest lower church. Beneath the floor lie remains of 1st-century Roman baths. Rebuilt after the 1941 fire, the cathedral offers visits to the Crypt of Christ, the tower with an interpretation centre (3€) and a Civil War air-raid shelter. Free entry to the cathedral.
