Garganta Verde

Garganta Verde is a natural gorge located in the Sierra de Grazalema, in the province of Cádiz. It is a deep gorge approximately 400 meters high, sculpted by water erosion over thousands of years. At its base lies a natural cave that adds geological and scenic interest to the site. This environment offers a sensory experience where the sound of the wind and the echo of birds blend with views of steep rocky walls and typical Mediterranean vegetation.

While exploring Garganta Verde, you can observe the largest colony of griffon vultures in Andalusia nesting on its vertical walls. These birds of prey soar majestically overhead, creating a natural spectacle. The local flora includes species adapted to mountain and limestone rock conditions, and there are trails that allow safe and respectful exploration of the surroundings.

This landscape is part of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, a protected area known for its biodiversity and ecological significance. The gorge's formation is linked to geological processes from the Tertiary era, when tectonic activity raised these mountains. The presence of the cave and the terrain's configuration have favored bird nesting and the conservation of unique ecosystems.

There is no entrance fee and access is free, though visitors are advised to respect guidelines to protect the local fauna and flora.
