Description

The Vallina–Nospotentra traverse is one of the great advanced caving experiences in Alto Asón, in Arredondo, in the heart of the Matienzo karst, one of the most important underground systems in Europe. The activity consists of crossing the mountain from the inside: you enter through the mouth of Cueva Vallina and exit through Nospotentra, traveling through the interior of the earth from one end to the other.

During the four or five hours of the route, you will overcome various obstacles—narrow passages, scrambling, un-clogging, and some vertical sections—while discovering wide galleries, stalactite forests, and spectacular formations. A specialized guide accompanies you at all times, teaching you progression techniques and ensuring safety at every step.

This is an advanced-level activity, designed for people in good physical shape, without claustrophobia, and eager to experience caving in its most complete and adventurous version. You do not need to be a caver, but you must be fit and enjoy the challenge.

The surroundings of Valle del Asón and Matienzo, with hundreds of cataloged cavities, make it a world-class destination for caving.
