The Cueva Coventosa, located in the Valle del Alto Asón in Cantabria, is a karst cavity with more than 35 kilometers of galleries, considered one of the most relevant in Europe for speleology. Its mountain environment, with morning mist and abundant vegetation, provides a unique atmosphere before venturing into its depths. You will participate in a guided exploration that includes a 15-meter abseil down an internal shaft, a journey through narrow passages, and visits to emblematic chambers such as the Sala de las Columnas and the Sala de los Fantasmas. The cool, damp air of the cave envelops every step, while the absolute silence is broken only by the constant dripping of water resonating through the galleries.
Coventosa can be explored via different routes depending on your level and available time: an introductory traverse through the Sala de los Fantasmas, lasting about 2-3 hours; an intermediate route through the Los Gours area, lasting 4-5 hours; or the longest and most technical traverse to Los Lagos, lasting 6-7 hours.
