Description

The Ojáncano–Anjana traverse is one of the most original caving experiences in Cantabria, in the Valle del Miera, very close to the beautiful village of Liérganes. It connects two cavities—the Cubillo de Ojáncano and the Cubillo de la Anjana, whose entrances are just a few meters apart—and combines classic caving with canyoning: a large part of the route follows the course of an underground river.

Equipped with a wetsuit, you will move through the water, overcome small rappels, and discover galleries and formations in a damp and spectacular environment. It is a medium-level traverse, where a guide accompanies you, teaches you the necessary techniques, and ensures your safety during every section.

Its names come from Cantabrian mythology: the Ojáncano, a one-eyed giant representing the wild strength of the mountain, and the Anjana, a benevolent fairy who protects travelers. To undertake this traverse is to step, literally, into the legends of the land.

The Valle del Miera and the surroundings of Liérganes, with its mountains, its river, and its heritage, is an ideal destination to combine adventure, nature, and culture in eastern Cantabria.
