Description

Beginner canyoning in the heart of Álava Fuente el Haya is one of the most approachable canyons in the Basque Country: a route full of natural slides, jumps and progressively difficult rappels, designed for those entering the world of canyoning for the first time. The riverbed has carved over millennia a sequence of pools and rock faces that make this canyon a complete experience without being demanding.

The activity Before entering the canyon the guide explains how to use the abseil device, the harness and basic safety techniques. From that point, the group descends in a full wetsuit following the river: natural slides launching into the water, optional jumps at moderate height and a main rappel that marks the highlight of the route. The approach on foot to the canyon head allows you to take in the Álava mountain setting.

Who can do it Minimum age 10. No prior experience or ability to swim in deep water required. You do need to be reasonably fit for the approach and comfortable with water. The wetsuit provides buoyancy and warmth year-round.
