Robust mountain boots with rigid soles that can get wet (essential for 5-8h on technical terrain). Long trousers and thermal layer for the approach. All technical gear (wetsuit, helmet, harness, abseil device) is provided by the guide.

About the Area

Ultzurrun is in the Yerri Valley, in central Navarra, a transition zone between the Pyrenean mountains and central Navarra. Local rivers have carved spectacularly deep canyons into Jurassic limestone, creating some of the most technical canyons in northern Spain. The mixed Mediterranean and Atlantic forest setting contrasts with the hydraulic force of the enclosed river channels.

No. Once inside Artazul there are no easy intermediate exits. The group must be prepared and committed to completing the full descent.
