Galicia has several rías and coasts where sea kayaking finds its place: from the laurel forest of Cortegada to the navigation reserve of the Cíes Islands. On the island of Cortegada, in the ría de Arousa, Picuco organises the Kayak hire on the Island of Cortegada, Rianxo. The rest of the areas you will see here can be arranged upon request.

Cortegada Island: the laurel forest and the lazaretto of the ría de Arousa

Cortegada is a rock emerging from the sea, covered by the largest laurel forest in all of Europe. When walking through it, you can see the remains of the houses and the church and hospital of the old lazaretto. You can reach it by boat, and also on foot when the tide goes down via the Camino del Carro, about 200 metres between Carril (Vilagarcía de Arousa) and the island. The kayak departure is made from Bamio beach, heading towards the Cortegada pier.
