Ascent to Brañagallones
Meeting in Bezanes and ascent along the forest track among beech forests to the glacial cirque of Brañagallones (1,240 m). Check-in at the refuge, briefing on the crossing and first mountain dinner.

Lakes of Ubales
Journey to Lake Ubales, of glacial origin, at the foot of Pico Cascayón. One of the most beautiful panoramas in Redes, among peaks and high meadows. Return to the refuge.

Meadows and beech forests
Circular route through the summer pastures and beech forests surrounding Brañagallones, with time to observe the park’s wildlife. Last night at the refuge.

Descent to Bezanes
Breakfast and leisurely descent back to Bezanes, completing the 51 km of the crossing. Group farewell mid-morning.

The area
Redes Natural Park occupies the municipalities of Caso and Sobrescobio, in central-eastern Asturias. It’s a world of beech forests on the shady slopes, glacial cirques and high peaks like Pico Torres, where bears, chamois and capercaillie still roam. Brañagallones, its most famous glacial valley, is the perfect base camp.

By plane: Asturias airport (OVD), just over an hour’s drive from the starting point.
By car: the trek starts in Bezanes (Caso municipality), where there is ample parking. Access is via the AS-17 and the Tarna road from Oviedo. From Bezanes, a forest track leads up to the Brañagallones refuge.
