What you'll experience

Arrival and beach exploration

Arrival at the guesthouse, room assignment and welcome. Short walk along the beach with the school team to familiarize yourself with the bathing area and currents. Dinner shared with the other guests.
Surf in the morning, whatever you want in the afternoon.

Two-hour morning class with a low student-teacher ratio, adapted to your level. Lunch provided. Free afternoon: nap time, optional surfskate, beach volleyball, trip to Santoña (Penal del Dueso, Faro del Caballo), or free time at the beach. Dinner together at 9 PM.
Closing and departure sessions

Two final supervised surf sessions to consolidate what you’ve learned. Optional day trip to Bilbao or Santander on the last day. Departure after lunch.

Not the right fit for groups of more than six, or for those looking for nightlife outside the hostel.

How is it different from Watsay (the other Berria camp)?

Size and atmosphere. Berria Surf School is small guesthouse with personalised treatment and family-hostel character. Watsay has 68 spots and feels more like a classic summer camp. Same beach, two distinct products.

Can families come?

Yes. It's one of the few camps that mixes adults and minors well in the same house, especially parents + teenager.

What levels do they accept?

All. Absolute beginners and intermediate-to-advanced. Classes adapt to the group and the instructor; mixing profiles is not a problem if the wave allows.

Does it operate in winter?

On request. Some winter weekends run and the Easter option is regular. Cold sea (12-14°C) but thick wetsuit available.

How do I get there without a car?

Alsa bus from Santander or Bilbao to Santoña, then 10 min taxi to the beach. The school can arrange bus pickup on request.

Are there English classes?

Yes, as an optional complementary activity. Some weeks have a teacher; it's not an intensive course, but workshop-style sessions.
