Description

The Oros Bajos Waterfall (also known as Cascada dos Lucas) is a 30-metre fall in the small village of Oros Bajo, 5 km from Biescas (Huesca), in the Tena Valley. The water drops into a turquoise pool (badina) about 5 metres across, surrounded by eroded limestone and riverside vegetation.

Access is very easy: from Oros Bajo village, a 1.7 km trail (15-20 minutes) leads to the waterfall. The route is suitable for children from 4 years old with no technical difficulty.

Near the village stands the pre-Romanesque chapel of Santa Rosalía (11th century), one of the oldest temples in the Tena Valley. The waterfall is fed by the Dos Lucas ravine and is most spectacular after rain or with snowmelt.

Oros Bajo is a quiet alternative to the Pyrenees' more crowded waterfalls. It combines well with Biescas, the Panticosa Spa or a day at Formigal.
