Description

La Salvé Beach is the flagship stretch of sand in Laredo and the longest beach in Cantabria, spanning over four kilometres of fine golden sand opening onto the Bay of Santoña. Its south-facing orientation creates a milder microclimate compared to other Cantabrian beaches, with relatively calm waters sheltered by the Regatón sandspit and Monte Buciero in Santoña.

The beach is divided into several distinct zones. The western section, next to the old town and the seafront promenade, is where most facilities are concentrated: showers, beach bars, sunbed rental and surf schools. As you walk eastward, the beach becomes wider and quieter, eventually merging with Playa del Regatón in the dune area.

La Salvé is a reference point for surfing in eastern Cantabria, with consistent waves during autumn and winter, and gentler conditions in summer that make it ideal for beginners. The Royal Nautical Club of Laredo, located beside the beach, hosts regattas and sailing competitions throughout the year.

The beach holds Blue Flag status for its water quality and services. In summer it hosts the famous Batalla de Flores, a parade of floats decorated with natural flowers that runs along the promenade on the last Friday of August.
