Description

Ea is the smallest municipality in Bizkaia: a fishing village of barely 800 inhabitants tucked into the mouth of the River Ea, where colourful houses reflect in the estuary waters creating a perfect postcard. It is one of those places that time seems to have forgotten.

The village is walked in 15 minutes: the bridge over the estuary, the church of Santa María de Jesús, the seafaring houses with wooden balconies and the small beach at the end of the estuary. But Ea's magic lies in the silence, the light and the contrast between the green surroundings and the colourful facades.

Ea is on the Lekeitio Coast, between Lekeitio and Elantxobe. The surrounding coast offers cliffs, hidden coves and coastal routes on the GR-123. The Basque coast flysch continues through this area.

50 km from Bilbao and 65 from San Sebastián. No significant tourist services — it is a village for strolling, photographing and feeling.
