First step in the AIXA series — beginner caving on the Basque coast The AIXA caves form a progressive series of cavities near Deba, on the Gipuzkoa coast. Cueva AIXA I is the entry point to this series: a beginner cave with well-defined galleries, calcareous formations and the characteristic atmosphere of the underground world. Difficulty is low, designed for those who have never done caving.

The activity Before entry, the guide explains the use of the helmet with head torch and the protective oversuit. The underground route passes through natural galleries with accessible passages. No climbing or technical sections: the focus is on exploration and learning about the karst environment. Approximate duration 2 hours including gear up.

Who can do it Minimum age 8. Ideal for families and groups with no prior experience. Those who want to progress in the series can continue with AIXA II (level II) or AIXA IV (level IV, the most technical).
