Canyoning in Los Cahorros is the most in-demand activity: the route follows the Monachil river through hanging bridges, waterfall rappels and crystal-clear pools, at a difficulty level accessible to beginners with a guide. Hiking climbs the Granadan slopes to National Park viewpoints, with routes connecting to the Genil river greenway. Rock climbing has granite sectors near the barranco and on the polished rock areas of the high Sierra Nevada mountains. MTB uses the National Park trails at mid-altitude and the rural tracks connecting the cortijos of the municipality. The Sierra Nevada ski resort, 20 minutes away, makes Monachil an outstanding winter base combining downhill skiing with mountain activities on the same day.
