Tiermes Archaeological Site

The Tiermes Archaeological Site is located in Montejo de Tiermes, province of Soria, preserving remains of a Celtiberian-Roman city carved into sandstone rock. This settlement developed between the 4th century BC and 2nd century AD, showcasing a cultural fusion between Celtiberian communities and Roman influence. The ochre and reddish sandstone forms a landscape where time seems frozen, with structures emerging directly from the terrain.

Exploring Tiermes, you can see rock-cut dwellings that offer a unique example of architectural adaptation to the natural environment. Notable features include a semicircular tiered seating area suggesting a public space for gatherings or performances, and an aqueduct demonstrating an advanced water supply system.
