Description

Noja is one of the most popular beach destinations on the Cantabrian coast, with two sandy stretches totalling over 4 km. Playa de Ris, with its rocky islets and consistent waves, is a surfing reference. Playa de Trengandin extends 3,700 metres of golden sand backed by dunes and the Santona Marshlands Natural Park.

In summer, Noja multiplies its population tenfold and its streets fill with coastal atmosphere. The town centre preserves medieval towers and Indianos mansions recalling Cantabrian emigration to the Americas.

The natural surroundings offset the tourist density: the Victoria marshlands west of town are a nesting area for spoonbills and herons, and coastal paths towards Isla and Ajo offer stretches of virgin coast just minutes from the beach bustle.
