River Tubing

River tubing in Spain: float down river stretches on an inflatable tube, between gentle rapids and pools. No previous experience needed, ideal for groups and families.

About River Tubing

River tubing consists of descending a stretch of river sitting inside an inflatable float, letting the current carry you along. It is one of the simplest ways to enjoy a river: there is no need to paddle or master any technique; just settle into the donut and follow the guide, alternating stretches of lively current with calm pools where you stop and swim. It is practiced in riverbeds with moderate flow and gentle rapids, normally class I and II, so that the descent is fun without being demanding. The standard equipment is provided by the company: the float, helmet, life jacket and, depending on the water temperature, a wetsuit. Guides accompany the group throughout the route and mark the descent lines and stopping points. It is a very accessible activity: it does not require being a good swimmer or having physical fitness, and is usually permitted from six or eight years old depending on the stretch and the company. That is why it works so well with families, groups of friends, bachelor parties and corporate activities, and is often combined with other water activities like canyoning or rafting. The natural season goes from late spring to early autumn, when the water is temperate and the flow is stable. In Spain, it is offered in mountain and pre-Pyrenean rivers, and generally in any riverbed with gentle rapids and convenient access to enter and exit the water.
