Context
The Venes de Rojalons vía ferrata is located on a cliffside covered in pine forest, just south of Montblanc in the Conca de Barberà region. It is Spain’s only vía ferrata to include a section inside a natural cave, creating a unique blend of rock climbing and spelunking. The route ascends approximately 40 meters between 720 and 850 meters above sea level, with a mix of vertical and horizontal sections.
The experience
Under the guidance of a certified expert, you’ll be equipped with a harness, helmet, and front-mounted headlamp to navigate via bolts, chains, and single-file bridges. The cool air of the pine forest blends with the echo of footsteps inside the underground gallery, where artificial light reveals natural rock textures and geological formations. The route includes athletic moves and alternative options to avoid K4+ sections, making it adaptable to different skill levels.
For whom
This activity suits young adults and adults with prior experience in vías ferratas or moderate rock climbing. It’s ideal for those who enjoy underground adventure. Not recommended for people with vertigo, fear of enclosed spaces, limited mobility, or insufficient physical preparation.
