Description

The stretch of the Duero between Garray and Soria is one of the most accessible whitewater sections in inland Spain. The activity starts at Soto Playa in Soria itself, where rafts and group are loaded and shuttled upstream to the put-in at Garray. Before getting on the water, guides walk through paddle technique, safety briefing and how to handle the raft.

Then the descent begins. Most of the route flows along calm water, with poplar groves on the banks and the Celtiberian-Roman site of Numancia visible on the hilltop above. A handful of class II rapids add rhythm without demanding prior experience, and the day finishes back at the riverside in Soria.

It is an ideal plan for groups — minimum 4 people per raft — and a good way to introduce kids and beginners to whitewater under controlled conditions. The season runs from mid-May through October, depending on river flow.
