Toro is an 8,500-inhabitant town in western Zamora, perched on a ridge above the Duero. Listed Historic Ensemble since 1963: medieval walls, Renaissance palaces, 12th-century Romanesque collegiate church and the natural balcony of the Espolón above the river.

By car: A-6 towards A Coruña to Tordesillas, then A-11 towards Zamora for 25 km to Toro. Madrid-Toro total: 2h15. Free parking outside the walled centre.

No useful public transport: Toro has a bus from Zamora but it's 4 km between winery and town. You need a car.

Driver option: private service on request from Valladolid or Zamora with a supplement.
