Description

Punta do Fociño do Porco is a spectacular cliff that extends over 3 kilometres into the Cantabrian Sea, in the municipality of O Vicedo (Lugo). Its Galician name means "pig's snout" after the shape the headland makes when seen from above. It is one of the most impressive coastal viewpoints on the Galician coast and the entire Cantabrian coastline.

A wooden pedestrian walkway runs along the cliff edge, with heights reaching 85 metres above the sea. The full circular route is about 7 km and offers views over Pereira and Area Grande beaches, the entrance to the Viveiro estuary and, on clear days, the entire coast to Estaca de Bares.

The area is a habitat for peregrine falcons, yellow-legged gulls and cormorants. Dolphins are occasionally spotted from the cliffs, and during migration season whales and pilot whales may be seen.

The municipality of O Vicedo lies on the Mariña Lucense, one of the least crowded coastal areas in Galicia. The visit combines well with Area Grande beach, the Viveiro estuary and the Northern Way of Santiago.
