Description

Frías is the smallest city in Spain (barely 250 inhabitants) and one of the most impressive medieval scenes in Castile. On an impossible rocky outcrop stand the hanging houses, the Castle of the Velasco (10th century) and the church of San Vicente, creating a profile that seems straight out of a fairy tale.

The medieval bridge over the River Ebro, with its toll tower in the centre, is one of the most photogenic images in northern Burgos. The cobbled streets, houses hanging over the cliff and views from the castle make Frías an essential destination.

Frías is in the Merindades, 80 km from Burgos. It combines with Puentedey, Orbaneja del Castillo and Ojo Guareña on a northern Burgos route.
