Description

A 13th-century medieval fortress commanding the Ayora valley from a rocky hilltop. Built over an Iberian settlement, the castle preserves the keep tower, wall sections and cisterns. From the summit, views extend across the inland Valencian mountains, the Reconque river valley and almond orchards. The town of Ayora below retains a historic centre with the Asunción church and cobbled streets.
